According to the latest report by the European Travel Commission (ETC), Montenegro ranked first among Europe's best-rated destinations in April 2026 in terms of reputation and visitor satisfaction, with an impressive score of 9.22 out of 10.
This result reflects a significant improvement in the quality of Montenegro's tourism offer, as well as the growing trust visitors have in the destination, the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro stated.
Additional encouraging signs come from unofficial data provided by local tourism organisations, showing that more than 44,000 tourists were staying in Montenegro on May 20, representing a 27% increase compared with the same period last year, and an impressive 32% increase compared with the same period in 2019.
Positive trends are also confirmed by official data from MONSTAT (Statistical Office of Montenegro), according to which more than 83,000 tourists visited Montenegro in March this year, marking a 2% increase compared with March last year.
The majority of visitors continue to come from the regional markets, the United Kingdom, Germany and France, while significant growth has also been recorded from long-haul markets such as the United States and China.
From the beginning of the year, during the first three months of 2026, Montenegro welcomed more than 198,000 tourists, which is approximately 99% of the total achieved during the same period last year.
Total dedicated tourism revenues — including tourist accommodation tax, tourism tax and membership contributions — collected from the beginning of the year through May 19, 2026, reached €873,214.35, representing a 1.19% increase compared with the same period in 2025.
